A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

A visual novel about a man with only two senses. This was created as part of the United Game Jam 2, which had a theme of, well, two!

That's it!

Notes:

Yes, I am aware of the screen size issue. I don't have time to fix that for the jams deadline, but expect an update soon to fix it. It shouldn't detract from the game itself.

There is currently no feature to save the game, or to speed up text. This should be included in the next update. This is not a particularly long VN, so I hope you can enjoy it without that.

There is no main menu. When you start the game, you start the game! This will be fixed in the update.

Options to change text speed and size will be added in a future update.

For the Windows builds, simply extract the zipped folder and run the executable.

A Linux version is available, but is untested. I cannot guarantee it will function properly.

The game was nice but the lack of basic vn features like auto and skip when combined with the text speed made playing the game far slower than it needed to be. The writing style is enjoyable and the dialogue is mostly well written with a few slight exceptions but the plot doesn't really go anywhere with it mainly relying on the fact the character is blind to carry it. The character being blind doesn't do much though because none of the interactions in the game are particularly unique because of it. If the choice of being blind was done to circumvent art limitations then there are better ways to go about doing so, such as using advanced text and ui styles to present a story with just text but in a way that conveys emotions. Alternatively the use of very simple art (8x8, two palette, no animations) and a character moving around the screen allowing you to do more rpg style interaction would make it more interesting. As it stands the presentation doesn't benefit from being a game and isn't engaging and only serves to reduce player enjoyment. The plot doesn't tell much but does good world building and other things, it just needs to be more eventful. Overall it was enjoyable but there's lots of room to improve and benefit from the medium of games, the freedom of text and art presentation and the story of the plot.

TL;DR - Good game, writing needs to do more and dialogue needs to improved a bit. Future projects could use more ui styles and interesting text styles or simple art and game mechanics to make up for the lack of art and provide a more engaging experience. Simple quality of life stuff like skip is also a must.

I'd give the game a 3/5, it's not bad but there's some room to improve towards making a better game and story.
